Proposal for metal–insulator–metal plasmonic power splitter and demultiplexer suitable for implementation in optical switches

The authors propose a nanoplasmonic structure based on metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguides which consists of 3 db power splitter and side-coupled nanocavity placed between its two output ports. proposed is analysed by the resonant theory dispersion relation. Transmission spectra presented device are also extracted using finite difference time domain method. Numerical simulations demonstrate that operates as band-stop filter in each channel. Moreover, resonance wavelengths can be tuned adjusting geometrical parameters nanocavity. Meanwhile, developed cavity added an extra stub to it append new stopband spectrum. Each wavelength easily manipulated changing widths stub. In end, choosing different lengths for cavities, convert into division multiplexer. These introduced MIM, here, may have various meaningful applications nanoscale high-density photonic circuits such optical switches, logic plasmonic slow-light devices.
